Rugby at its Electrifying Best was on display at the 2009 Fitness First Central Coast Sevens Rugby Tournament. The tournament kicked off the start of the Australian 7's season attracting the attention and attendance of National Sevens Coach & Dual International Michael O' Connor and representatives of the Australian Rugby Union High Performance Unit and an extremely high level of competition for the inaugural tournament.

The event featured both a men's & women's tournament attracting high quality participants from the Central Coast, Newcastle - Hunter Valley, ACT & Sydney Premier Rugby Clubs competing for a total prize pool of $10,000.00.

The tournament featured a number of current and former national sevens representaives and a number of players currently under the watchful eye of national selectors for what has now become an Olympic sport.

The men's tournament was hotly contested with the Burwood Blues featuring a number of West Harbour Premier Rugby players disposing of powerhouse clubs Manly & Warringah on their way through to the final against Sydney Premier Rugby Club the Parramatta Two Blues. Burwood skipped away to an early lead before a spirited fight back from the Parra team bringing the game down to the wire with Burwood hanging on to win the $5,000.00 first prize with a 34-24 scoreline.

The women's tournament was fierce with the Vikings from the ACT featuring Australian representative Kristy Giteau showing great form to progress through to the final against the 2009 Sydney Premiership runners up Sydney University. The match was even going to the half time break at 10-10 with Uni coming out in victors in 20-10.
